After updating my iPhone to the 2.2 firmware, I couldn’t delete emails from Mail.app anymore. I am not the only one, and there is a solution which worked for my IMAP account.
Go to: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [account name] > Advanced > Deleted Mailbox
Then, set “On My iPhone” Trash for a POP account [...]

My favorite email subject line of the past week
February 18th, 2008 · No Comments
Most spam I receive is of the usual variety of supplements, etc.. Only occasionally do I get a 419 scam, but I did enjoy last week’s subject line from the “Compensation Head Office”
Dear Prominent User of the Internet

Kim Komando still has an audience

Back in my early days online, AOL went from the rising upstart (behind Prodigy and CompuServe, which it later bought) to the behemoth…before the Internet wave swamped most of the pre-Internet online services. A few of the early folks with content areas and services on AOL rode the wave, kept building their audience, adapted to [...]

I thought this had been done years ago, since NTT/Verio bought Best some time ago, but apparently not. The company’s [...]

DRM e-mail: figures, but who knew?

Scoble is thrilled with his Outlook ‘magic folder’ blogging tool. It’s so easy, though, that he worries about making a mistake.
I imagine a day when I accidentally drop something in there that I wasn’t supposed to. I wonder how it’d treat DRM’d email? Hmmm, we should try that out! (Execs here often send around DRM’d [...]

File under ‘Should have done this a long time ago’
April 6th, 2004 · Comments Off
I just upgraded my wife’s email to Eudora 6.1 and paid for the spam filtering. Given the volume of junk she’s been deleting for years, I clearly should have done this long ago. I’m still using Mail.app because of the (a) filtering and (b) separate email programs is good for a marriage. But I certainly [...]

1GB is for real

OK, GMail is for real, not a joke. 1GB. Google realized email has much higher switching costs, so they are going to disrupt Hotmail and Yahoo… or at least force their costs up.
