Sorry… Twitter Tools went crazy

Just deleted the several dozen rogue posts from Twitter Tools, one of Alex King’s projects. I’m a fan of the plugin and have been using it for several months now without incident. During an upgrade yesterday, I turned on the daily digest feature for the first time. This setting assembles your “tweets” into a blog post. Since I’ve been more active on my Twitter account than here, I thought it would be interesting to the folks who follow me. Oops… the plugin spewed repeat posts into my blog and the feed: sorry! I’ve turned the setting off until I hear of a fix. Others are having the same problem, which is always comforting to hear, so it’s not simply PEBCAK.

Quiet Saturday afternoon

I dearly love my children. Truly.

Still, the last few unexpected hours of time without the children on a Saturday afternoon has been a joy. Enough said. Among other mundane tasks, I got WordPress up to date, filled out an annoying but necessary application, and solved a problem for my wife. Not hyper productive, but satisfying.

The kids return shortly, and I’m ready for their energy again.

Phew. Caught up with all the reading I did this late spring and summer, just before Labor Day comes to a close. My apologies to those flooded with these blog reports of several months of reading in a handful of days. Now back to our regular irregular updates.

Fixed the RSS feed

My thanks to the anonymous commenter who alerted me that my RSS feed was borked. It’s fixed now, with thanks to Otto for the tip.

Now I just have to blog the 17 books I’ve read in the last few months.

And another year has passed. Kids happily re-gifted some of their presents to me, and cupcakes were enjoyed by all.

I started the day in darkness with a mile run on the Kezar track, as I’ve done occasionally in past years. 5:23 left me convinced that I haven’t slowed down too much, although I can’t find records of past years (which is why I’m blogging this). Staying under six minutes is the general point.

clock hits a milestone today, too. I started this blog four years ago. Three years ago, I was still blogging heavily. Two years ago, the posts were slowing down. One year ago, little had changed. This year has been pretty light, but this is still post number 1224.

The next month at work is going to be hectic, but fun because we will be sharing cool stuff that’s been under development for a while. Eight months in, and we hit 100 billion DNS requests today. Lots more to come!

Moving my exercise posts to WeEndure.com

Since Dennis finds it useful, and assures me I can get my data out, I’m going to move my exercise notes to We Endure. That will clean out some of the “noise” here at clock. I’m using my blog as a testbed for something new cooked up by Aaron and Noah. If you visit my blog at http://www.pencoyd.com/clock/ (instead of just reading via the RSS feed), you’ll see a yellow button on the right-hand side of the page, under the heading “Are you using OpenDNS?”

The button has two states: one for OpenDNS users, one for those yet to become OpenDNS customers. This is one of the “fun with DNS” hacks we can pull off. And, yes, fun and DNS can go in the same sentence.

Go ahead and get your own. Aaron will announce more publicly very, very soon.

Oh, and for those of you who haven’t visited in a while, yes, it’s a new theme on clock.
