It's hard to find good forum software. Too much of it copies the same generic look-and-feel, and I'd prefer to step away from that into better longterm usability, even if that does mean a sharper learning curve — at least initially. I don't believe your forum intends to be a 'powerhouse' like most sites geared towards a broad topic, or any topic (OT Central, anyone?). 2) It has the features you need to get out the door. RSS, Administrative functions, tagging, etc. 3) Configuration takes a 1 or 2 minute session through a single file. 4) Highly active SVN, you can even help to contribute fixes back (OSS forever!). 5) Automattic Magic.
